A Cache Run........

April 12th 08,

Well what was supposed to be a day of fishing with my brother and cousin, and a cache placement on Lake Monticello, turned into a cache run and cache placement. Jimmy my brother, and my cousin Johnny challenged Lisa & I to a day of fishing, with the promise of getting skunked. Well rising early and hearing the rain falling, we knew the guys would wimp out. Lisa and I proceeded on.
Caching our way through Union County, we logged a few finds in the misty rain. Once we arrived at Lake Monticello, the rain and the wind stopped. After a quick potty run and unloading the kayaks, the sky opened up again, and this time again with some heavy rain.
We waited it out and put in during a light rain, and paddled out and placed our newest cache "Thin Green Line" A tribute to the DNR officer. After placing the cache, we paddled around to another lake cache, "300 Acre Pond". The rain & wind picked up, and Lilly Belle got nervous!
Although she had on her new spiffy K-9 PFD, she must have felt scared, because when the wind started, she let us know in no uncertain terms, she was ready for her paws to touch land.
A quick paddle back to the put in and we continued on caching in the rain. Among many, we logged the "Palmetto Trail Cache" on the Enoree passage, and as a total bounus, I spotted a strange looking container near the trail head sign, turns out, it was a Navi-Cache, a first for us!
We cached through many areas including, Sumter Forrest and Rose Hill Plantation, and logged many unique caches by Santuc Sports. We also logged "I'm Pinning for You"
This has to be the most creative container we have ever found!
Although, our day did not start or end as planned, it was a great day, and sometimes, you just can't plan for it.
