Today we did something we had both been wanting to do for quite some time now. We drove up to the Saluda River and did a little trout fishing. We spent a little over three hours in the river, and it was a very good time. We had the river to ourselves except for a father and his son and daughter fishing at the river bend above us. We went to fish for trout, but ended up caching more smallmouth bass than anyting, with a few sunfish thrown in as well. Luckliy we were able to land three of the elusive trout we set out to catch. What a thrill!
They are such beautiful fish, and the river was crystal clear and cool. It was a beautiful day in the mountains.
We both love to fish, but had only tried trout fishing once before, and we enjoyed it, but just never made the time to get back up this way to fish again. Hopefully, the next trip will come around a lot sooner than this one did.

Awesome looking fish! I haven't been fishing in so long, I've been itching to take the girls but just haven't gotten around to it.
I just picked up fly fishing and have been looking to try trout fishing on the Saluda. Do you know where you fished at and where you drove to get to it?
