We spent a great weekend with friends recently Camping and Kayaking at Cheraw State Park here in South Carolina.
A very early season Tropical Storm (Ana) was hovering of the coast and threatened us all weekend. Turns out, we only had some steady winds, and was otherwise a perfect weekend. The campground itself is very small compared to other state campgrounds, and with the threat of bad weather, it was no where near capacity. The park also has 8 cabins. Our friends rented a cabin, we camped and we were all very pleased with the accommodations.
The park has a 350 plus acre lake ideal for kayaking. On our kayaking excursion, we were lucky enough to see nesting Ospreys, Prothonotary Warblers, and Eastern Kingbirds.
We even grabbed a geocache while on the water.
Here is a video of the weekend.
