Mining Bee / Digger Bee

Every year, these bees nest beside our driveway. It used to really bother me, not that they were nesting here, but the location they picked. Most folks are scared of bees, but these bees are not aggressive, and they are great pollinators. So that said, our human visitors will just have to side step our guests until they decide to move on.

Wow- those are so cool. I don't ever remember even noticing that many before.

Wow these ground bees are prolific - I have never seen ones that create shelters like that above ground - have you managed to identify the species?

No Paul, I have not. I know its the
Andrenidae & Anthophoridae family.
Any help would be appreciated. I have changed the title to minning bees as this is more accurate.
Thanks checking out my blog.
