On September 15th 2007, members of USCGA took part in the 19th annual Beach Sweep / River sweep event. The site was Lake Cherokee, just outside of Gaffney SC. We had eleven volunteers show up listed by geoname; notBillybob, farmallcub, Hockeyhick, MSWahoo, Haiwian Ninja, The Bassett Hounds, A~Train, and omyomy, Laura and Lisa from Team L&L hosted the event.
It was a wonderful day for this and a lot of trash was removed from in and around the lake. 41 bags total and two chairs. Estimated at 615lbs of trash. Afterwards a raffle was held for geocoins donated by coins and pins, and a $25.00 gift certificate to the Stouffer Thrift Store, donated by Nestle Frozen Foods. Everyone enjoyed a meal of Chili burgers and hotdogs catered by none other than Harold's of Gaffney.
A great event, for a very worthwhile cause. This is the 3rd year that I have hosted a Beach Sweep / River Sweep event. I hope to be able to do it again next year.

If you need any help organizing next year's event, I volunteer. This is such a worthwhile cause and a lot of fun. Of course my wish is for events like this to never be needed.
