Never trust the coords.....

Eagle Rock Cache log & contents

We went out to the mountains of WNC Saturday to log a geocache that has been on our to do list for a couple of months now.  The geocache is named Eagle Rock.  The trail is moderately strenuous, but the view at the end is well worth the effort.  The trail ends at a large rock outcrop above a beautiful mountain vista,  with several peaks in the distance.
When we arrived at GZ,  after enjoying the view, we set about the business of locating the cache container.  The coords. lead us to a separation in the rock outcrop just large enough for somebody to climb down to a rock ledge, with crevices on either side.  The coords said 2 ft...
Well, after searching every crevice, on and below the outcrop, we located the container 30 feet away in the woods on level ground.   We have placed a few geocaches of our own, so we know how difficult it can be to get a good read, everything from tree cover to buildings can adversely effect the reading.  It is just a frustrating fact.
It is also a very good feeling to locate something when you were just before giving up the search.   When we returned to the car, checked the phone and had a invite to dinner with some old friends.  It was a good day.
